Adjacent to the steering wheel there is a J1962 socket. Plug-in the logger with or without the supplied extension cable. The device will automatically detect the baud rate and then display your vehicle VIN in your software dashboard.
There is a buffer in the device that saves the data until the next time the logger is connected to the network. It´s very rare that the data logger does not connect to the network. The data logger transfers the data during the drive so the users can see the actual values, as well as GPS position, from the CloudSoft™ dashboard.
The battery is charged during the drive. When vehicle is in sleep mode the battery is used to send updates to the server with for an instant snapshot of data or to display the “heartbeat” of the vehicle battery. The logger can also run without vehicle power for a limited time, depending on the setup and modem activity.
The data logger is shipped with a SIM card installed and pre-configured. Most of the time there is no need for the user to change the SIM. But changing he SIM card is simple, just contact support to get instructions how to change the card yourself.
You can use the LED on the data logger to get an understanding of the operation. The flashing pattern indicates the following:
|3 times (50ms ON/100ms OFF), 3550ms OFF||No Cloud / No GPS|
|2 times (50ms ON/100ms OFF), 3700ms OFF||No Cloud / Fix GPS|
